Let’s start this week (or whatever day you are reading this) with a positive read!
We all have at least 1 person in the world that we look up to, right? Whether it’s a parent, grandparent, friend, an educator or a celebrity, we have these people that we admire and strive to be like. I have several. I strive to be as loving as my grandma and as strong as my mom. I want to be as money smart as my dad and as genuine as my husband. But there is one person in the world that I truly admire. And I know this person isn’t just an inspiration to me, but to thousands.
Ellen DeGeneres.
This woman- I’ll be honest, I’m obsessed! She is a voice to those who don’t have one and is someone who does good every. single. day. I know, easy to do when you have more money than you know what to do with. BUT, not everyone with money does “good.”
I think that’s why I love her so much. There’s so many people who are on the same type of platform as Ellen who don’t do good, or do good for the wrong reasons. And I’m not just talking about the money she hands out to people who are deserving. I’m talking about bringing soldiers home to see their loved ones. I’m talking about the opportunities such as jobs that she’s given to people. Her love and advocacy for animals is an inspiration and SO MUCH MORE!
But with all that good, one of my favorite thing is the comedy! Good lord, is that woman funny! Have you ever watched the episodes where she’s talking in someone’s ear and telling them what to do? I laugh so hard just listening to her laugh, I almost pee myself. When she scares people, or gets her little bits in about not being attracted to men, I die! And she’s not afraid to ask the heavy questions, all while keeping it light, funny, and kind.
Which brings me to my last point. The absolute kindness that she ensues is like none other. Hell, she ends every single show with “Be kind to one another.” If that doesn’t scream compassion, I don’t know what does.
So with all the really bad crap that’s going on in this world, all of the division, I think we could all read a chapter out of Ellen’s book (literally and figuratively) and just be a friend to everyone! I know I’m not the only one who’s obsessed with this woman and her compassion. If all of us who adore her, would show 1 true act of kindness a day, imagine the type of world we could create. It’s a lot harder to be hateful when you’re up against someone showing love. You never know when you might turn someone’s day from bad to good!
Have a GREAT day, my people. Be kind to on another!
