I am so excited to share with everyone about how I FINALLY got control over my less than ideal complexion. Read along if you were like me and looked like a teenager well into adult years!

I have been on the struggle bus with acne since junior high! I also suffer from eczema. I’m not saying it’s anyone’s fault but shout out to my buddy, Je-sus, I think he might have over done it a bit on my ‘flaws.’ And up until recently, I didn’t believe that the two went hand in hand. To me, oil face=acne. Dry face=no acne. That’s what I believed and no dermatologist was going to tell me otherwise.
So I did what any millennial mom would do, I asked for advice in a facebook group! Duh.
So many people were talking about certain oils. OILS?! I would NEVER put oil on my face.
Until I did.. and I am now 100% a believer. But I haven’t used just any oil, I now swear by Jojoba oil!
Jojoba oil is moisturizing, has antibacterial properties, is an antioxidant, helps control sebum production, and it’s non comedogenic, so it won’t clog pores. This can be used with a carrier oil (such as castor oil) or on its own. I personally use it on it’s own. I have been using it after washing my face, applying a spritz of face toner, and before or after moisturizing. I also use it as an acne spot treatment! For application, I use a cotton ball or soft wash cloth. *Bonus- This can also be used in your hair for added shine and moisture, or as a lip moisturizer! I even just recently used this on my daughter for her eczema bumps and the next morning, they were much smoother!

Now, I know I said I have eczema, but I still have somewhat oily/over reactive skin in certain areas. About 6 months ago, I went to a health food store and they recommended me this: Andalou Citrus Kombucha Cleansing Gel.
I usually use this cleanser night. I love how hydrated my face feels after washing, but it takes away excess oily build up!
While I’m in the shower or washing my face during the day I use, African Black Soap. This is the specific brand I use:
It’s cheap and I’ve noticed a major decrease in breakouts!
For added moisturizer, I use this toner:
I personally like the original or the cucumber kind, but they have different scents and medicated or unscented as well! You can get this product in a spray bottle or just pour some onto a cotton ball and rub onto your face. This gives the skin added moisture, can be used for cleansing and just spritz it on in the middle of the day to give your face a blast of freshness!
For a basic moisturizer I like to go with old faithful, Cetaphil. It’s non comedogenic, but it’s rich enough to soothe dry skin!
For a little added spark and because I’ve always lacked in the eyelash department, I use GrandeLASH-MD at the end of my process. It’s a little pricey (and I don’t do pricey) but absolutely worth it. My lashes have never been longer or stronger and it does not irritate the eyes. And right now, amazon has a $9.75 off coupon for prime members!
f you’re like me and have always struggled with acne, dry skin, minimal lash volume, and overall complexion, I’m telling you, all this stuff works! It took me 30 freaking years to figure this out! If I can help just 1 person get better skin, then the time it took me to write this post was worth every minute!
